Mayo Clinic's head says $5 billion project is up for grabs
WASHINGTON, April 10 () -- The head of Minnesota's famed Mayo Clinic said a $5 billion expansion project would be welcome elsewhere if funding in Minnesota is a problem."We're never going to leave Minnesota and we don't want to leave Minnesota," Dr. John Noseworthy said in an interview in Washington with the Minneapolis Star Tribune. "But we've got to decide where we're going to put the next $3 billion,Christian Louboutin Sale," Noseworthy said during the interview at the National Press Club. The project called "Destination Medical Center," is expected to cost $5 billion, including $3.5 billion put up by Mayo and $1.5 billion from private, state and federal funding, the Star Tribune reported Wednesday. The Mayo Clinic was founded in Rochester, Minn., 149 years ago. Noseworthy, who is the president and chief executive officer of the widely respected medical center, said the clinic is not threatening to leave the city where it was founded. However, the expansion project is up for grabs."There are 49 states that would like us to invest in them. That's the truth," he said."If they say yes, that's great, we want to stay in Minnesota. If they say no, or you're going to have to go for a bonding bill every year for the next 30 years,Christian Louboutin Discount, we'll have to rethink about whether that's the best use of our money," he said.
