Are you living in a Frugal State
As it happens it's not entirely your fault if you spend too much on shoes, golf, or other temptation. How much we spend offers quite a bit to do with where we live just how much self-control we have. Not only are a handful of states more expensive to live in than the others, but different locales also provide different spending cultures, which can determine how much money is left in the bank at the end of the day.
Take West Virginia. The state that sent its flagship university to the Final Four from the NCAA men's basketball tournament can also be the nation's thriftiest state, with households spending typically $24,517 a year (figures exclude rent and mortgage and therefore are depending on government and third-party data). Compare that with the big spenders in Connecticut, who spend typically $57,331 a year. A closer inspection reveals that West Virginians spend no more than $100 a month on clothing, and merely $30 per month on hobbies. "Income is actually a big driver [of spending habits] Generally, people spend the money they have," says Paskin. "But it is also probably true that there are different spending cultures West Virginia is clearly one of those states where it's more modest," she adds. Connecticut, however,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], hosts some of the country's wealthiest residents.
While Paskin says it's hard to create statewide generalizations, some trends jump out: The 10 most frugal states are concentrated in the South, and can include Sc, Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi. "People are more available to referring to cash, and it is important for people to have the means to observe how they're doing,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," she says. When they observe that they're spending more on groceries than their neighbors, perhaps they'll consider changing their habits. "So many of us think, 'If I just lived some place cheaper or basically just got an increase, i quickly could start saving,'" says Paskin. But she found that even if people proceed to a cheaper location where they are able to save on expenses such as rent, they have a tendency to improve their spending in a different area and do not wind up saving more money. I was 7 when WWII started in England (I lived in Manchester a big city in the NW). We were a household of four. Mum, Dad, sister Peggy Ten years over the age of me, and myself. My dad had the "Victorian" approach to marriage and my Mother never worked from the day she married him. Man's repsonsibilty to aid the household. Anyhow things weren't too good regarding food (forget toys etc. none to talk of throughout the war) but we never went hungry . We ate what there was and if it wasn't available we did without that one food. There was a saying in England during those day also it was "make do" and that we made do. Good training for later in life when you find through circumstances away from control you're suddenly thrust into a life where even though all of the good things are there to purchase you don't have the money to purchase them. Best of luck to any or all the people who are dealing with difficult times right now. To all the parents who are teaching their kids thrifty habits also. I came through difficult periods and I really accept is as true was the way in which I had been raised.
I believe that it's funny that some's priorities are whether you'll have a Coach purse or not. I see people walking around with one of these purses at the mall, however the only thing they've inside them really are a wallet on something which holds their cash. My daughter said they're for looks. For show, well I must function as the illustration of a poor mother,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I refuse to pay $200,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], for any set of jeans using the knees torn out, or $200 for any footwear, because they got a reputation on them. Or $250. for a purse,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], to transport for show. I additionally worked so that we're able to afford nicer things like furniture,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], appliances, cars to get us where we required to go. MY kids had nice clothes, and shoes, simply because in those days they didn't say Gloria Vandervelt, or some big named brand about the pocket didn't make them trash once they went on the street. We took our kids to places on vacation where they'd learn something not resorts. I see poster here bickering over stupid things like Coach purses,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it shows where their prioroties lay, and that is to keep up with what ever trend is being conducted at that time. My children worked for their money, they took out trash, mowed the grass, cleaned the garage. They was given a nice allowance for his or her weekly pay for these jobs, they was part of the family,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], they did not lay around on the couch while I cleaned the kitchen after dinner. My daughter who said I was a bad mother, because of this, presently has 2 teenage daughters, that won't put their fingers within the dish water, nor can they wear a set of shoes that doesn't cost a hundred bucks or more. Their clothes must come from Macy's Khol's,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], etc. I have a grandson that after his father comes into town, (boy is 20) he will only visit get your meals at the CheeseFactory, that is as long as someone else is paying. Kids don't have any respect for anyone anymore, not their parents or anyone else in the pub, they want, they want and that we give,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], to ensure they appear like the upper class at school. And when they become 20, or 18 like my grand daughter, who's now attending college, but picked a university where she can come home every night, to ensure that she is not responsible for any thing they cannot take care of them selves. They cannot cook, keep house, wash clothes, because another person has always tried it on their behalf. My daughter has learnt hard method in which maybe she should of had her priorities a bit more in line by teaching them what every day life is about rather than sheltering them and giving them exactly what they yelled for. After i was a kid, basically wanted some fancy thing I saved my allowence
for it. It wasn't handed to me. When your only priorty in life is such things as Coach purses and whether you really can afford them or otherwise, then something is saddly wrong that you experienced.
