A special day for everything means that nothing is special
Am I alone in thinking that there is a special day for almost anything? Who denotes such things? A few of us sitting around our club the other afternoon were discussing exactly this and trying to keep our tempers. I mean there is a Spinach Day,[url=http://duveticaukoutlet.halod.com/][b]Duvetica Jackets UK Outlet[/b][/url], for heaven's sake!
At one time, there were only a few contrived celebrations such as Mother's and Valentine's days and that was about it, but even that the club felt was ridiculous. What do they mean? Somehow we started to designate months for special observation. Where are the people I mentioned before, the chaps in charge of all this? What happens if a certain day is named after a disease and that disease is suddenly cured? Or if a person has 24 hours named for them and then is found to have done inappropriate things while a scout leader; can they take that back? Or what happens when some food that is celebrated is found through breakthrough research to be lethal?
This we believe to be another case of overdoing something once thought to be beneficial. At the club we call this the Law of Salt - a substance that at one time mankind could barely get enough of has turned on us and is devastating the world today.
