The 31-year-old actress wanted to prove she was more than just a pretty face with a sexy figure when she starred in sci-fi TV series,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Dark Angel,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], in 2000.
"I had a show that premiered when I was 19. And right away,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], everyone formed a strong opinion about me because of the way I was marketed,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," she told US Marie Claire.
"I was supposed to be sexy, this tough action girl. That's what people expected. I felt like I was being objectified,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and it made me uncomfortable,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," she added.
Jessica - who has two daughters with husband Cash Warren - admitted that when she's not on the red carpet,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], she gladly swaps high heels for a more practical option.
"I'm not going to wear stilettos, for example - even kitten heels are kind of pushing it - during the day. I wear boots,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], ballet flats and sneakers, but mostly boots. They're stable,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], easy to wear," she said.
Nowadays, she tries not to be overly sexy.
"Now that I'm older,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I've learned how to own it,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but I'm still not very overt,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," she explained.
"There are some women who dress for men. I dress for myself. It took me some time to get here. Being a mum and feeling grown-up have helped.
