Police find items of missing woman
A pair of shoes has been found during the search for a missing ABC radio employee in Melbourne as homicide detectives hold grave fears for her safety.
Police say the shoes were located near Victoria Street and Ovens Street in Brunswick, about 200 metres south of where 29-year-old Jillian Meagher's handbag was found early on Monday morning.
'We're hopeful for the best obviously,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but we have some concerns that she may have met with foul play,' homicide squad head Detective Inspector John Potter told reporters.
Asked if detectives had found anything to suggest violence, he said: 'We haven't found anything physical,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but the very circumstances of the case (are) worrying.'
Both the shoes and the handbag, which contained identity documents,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], were found near where Ms Meagher was last seen walking home after drinks with about four ABC colleagues at a nearby bar.
Police want to speak to anyone who may have seen her around 1.30am (AEST) on Saturday as she left Bar Etiquette, on Brunswick's Sydney Road,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], intending to walk home.
A friend who had been with her at the bar has said she was insistent on walking the short distance home by herself.
Ms Meagher was later reported missing,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], with her husband, Thomas,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], leading a social media campaign to help find her.
'I spoke to her before I left work and she was in great spirits,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],' he told reporters.
'Everyone who was there that night said she was in really good spirits.'
Police say Ms Meagher's bankcard has not been used and her mobile phone has been switched off,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
She has also not responded to widespread media reports of her disappearance.
Her husband said during public pleas for help in finding her that she had left her handbag at home and only had her bankcard and mobile phone at the time.
'I'm not exactly clear that's quite correct at this point in time,' Det Insp Potter told Fairfax radio.
Detectives are trying to track down CCTV footage that will help them find Ms Meagher,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but the bar where she was last seen did not have any cameras.
ABC local radio,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], where Ms Meagher works as a unit co-ordinator, said her friends and colleagues were saddened and concerned to hear about her disappearance.
