Poll finds most women business leaders have played team sports
NEW YORK, June 18 () -- Women in top executive positions in the United States and elsewhere are frequent participants in team sports, a survey by accounting firm Ernst & Young found. The survey that included 821 executives and senior managers of substantial firms found 67 percent of women in top executive jobs at some point participated in a team sport while managing their careers. The survey only included executives and managers of firms that made a minimum of $250 million in annual revenues, moncler sale, the Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday. The survey "validates and underscores the fundamental role that participation in sports plays in developing women leaders," said Beth Brooke, Ernst & Young global vice chair of public policy, hollister clearance, "Not only do the majority of senior women executives have sports in their background, they recognize that the behaviors and techniques learned through sports are critical to motivating teams and improving performance in a corporate environment," Brooke said.In the survey, 90 percent of respondent indicated teams was their No. 1 choice for handling business problems, the Times said.In addition, 82 percent indicated that an organization made up of smoothly functioning teams was a key to reaching business goals. That did not mean women executives considered using a team-oriented approach was easy to do.A majority of female respondents -- 55 percent -- indicated that motivating an individual was easier than motivating a team, the newspaper reported.
